Production Park Named Fastest Growing Company in West Yorkshire by Grant Thornton UK

Production Park, the world-leading campus for live events, television, film and creative technology, has been named the Fastest Growing Company in West Yorkshire by Grant Thornton UK, recognising a period of significant expansion, industry impact and continued investment in the region.

Located in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire, Production Park has evolved from its origins as a production and rehearsal facility for European music tours into a globally recognised hub for stage and screen production. Today, the nearly 30 acre campus supports world-class productions and is home to a thriving ecosystem of creative businesses, manufacturers, educators and innovators.

Over the past two decades, Production Park has welcomed some of the world's biggest artists, including Pink, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Coldplay and The 1975. More recently its studios have hosted major TV productions including the multi award-winning Netflix drama Adolescence, and supported ITV Studios in incorporating virtual production systems into three of its biggest daytime shows – Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

The recognition, which stems from Grant Thornton’s West Yorkshire LTD report, comes as Production Park enters a significant new phase of growth. The campus is currently expanding to 30 acres, with enhanced space for productions and more than 70,000 sq ft of dedicated space for stage and screen supply-chain businesses set to open in 2026.

Dan Dickinson, Partner and Yorkshire Practice Lead at Grant Thornton UK, said:

"Production Park exemplifies the ambition, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit that is driving economic growth across West Yorkshire. Its unique combination of world-class facilities, industry collaboration, skills development and continued investment has enabled the business to achieve remarkable growth while strengthening the region's reputation on the global stage.”

A key contributor to Production Park's success has been its commitment to developing talent. The Academy of Live Technology (ALT), formerly Backstage Academy, was established on site in 2009 to train the next generation of live events professionals.

Today, ALT offers degrees, short courses and industry training programmes and recently celebrated a major milestone with the granting of New Degree Awarding Powers. In 2024, ALT expanded internationally with the launch of its second campus at Rock Lititz in Pennsylvania, USA.

Production Park's innovation and research activities are led through XPLOR, the campus's Research and Industry Innovation unit, which collaborates with industry partners, universities and public sector organisations to advance technologies and practices across the live experience sector.

Jim Farmery, Director of External Affairs at Production Park, said:

"Being recognised by Grant Thornton as the fastest growing company in West Yorkshire is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the ambition and dedication of our entire community. Production Park has always been built around bringing together the very best talent, businesses and ideas under one roof. As we enter our next phase of expansion, we're creating even greater opportunities for collaboration, innovation and skills development that will strengthen both the creative industries and the wider regional economy."

The new expansion will create additional opportunities for businesses operating across the stage and screen supply chain, with flexible workspaces and a shared environment designed to encourage experimentation, knowledge exchange and collaborative growth.
